TUSAYAN, Ariz., Aug. 31, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The Town of Tusayan is deeply saddened by the devastating impacts of the recent flooding at Grand Canyon National Park. We stand with our partners, neighbors and the Grand Canyon community and are committed to supporting recovery efforts in any way we can. Following recent flooding in portions of the Grand Canyon National Park, the Town of Tusayan is reassuring visitors, residents and the traveling public that Tusayan remains open, fully intact and ready to welcome visitors.
Grand Canyon National Park South Rim lodging and concessions within the park boundaries will implement stage 4 water restrictions and halt overnight accommodations, beginning August 31, 2026, until further notice. Recent flooding has damaged infrastructure in the Grand Canyon’s inner canyon, including the Transcanyon Waterline, which is currently out of service. The park is conserving water while assessing damage and working to maintain available supplies. Grand Canyon South Rim is still open for day use and visits. South Rim food and beverage services, the Grand Canyon Clinic, Post Office, public restrooms, essential health and safety services remain open.
While significant rainfall and flooding have impacted portions of the Grand Canyon and surrounding region, the Town of Tusayan has not sustained damage from the flooding and continues to operate normally. Local lodging properties, restaurants, shops, attractions and visitor services remain open and available to travelers.
Overnight accommodations in Tusayan, located one mile from the South Entrance to the Grand Canyon National Park, are not affected. Visitors can continue to experience the Grand Canyon without disruption, while enjoying the full comfort and convenience of Tusayan with its full range of amenities, hotels, campgrounds, RV Parks, restaurants, coffee shops, tour services, trails and horseback riding.
The Town of Tusayan is working closely with local partners to monitor the situation and provide accurate information to the public. As recovery efforts continue, additional information and updates will be shared as they become available.
